Our First day of the Oregon trip! We went to Portland and Astoria to visit Michael's mission area and reconnect with some of his old friends. We had a great time! We started the long drive in the good ole Quest.

After about 5 hours we stopped in Ontario, Oregon to have lunch at Wingers. This was special becasue we ate there a lot in Elko and really miss having one close!
(Ryan has recently began thinking that posing wierdly in phots is "cool." Be on the lookout for more "coolness!")
We then had our first fill up in Oregon, which is even more expensive since there it is illegal to pump your own gas and they have people hired to do it for you. Check out the total:

Sign of the times, the mark of the "gas beast!
Anna Banana did a lot of squirming her head around, which eventually lead to this enormous rat's nest that made the back of her hair stand straight up! Imagine the happy exchange we had when I had to comb it out! :)
Ryan's "when are we getting out of the car" face.
We drove for a while by this beautiful river...I don't know the name of it, but it was pretty!
Our first stop was at Multnomah Falls. It was gorgeous and we all appreciated being able to get out of the car and hike around a little!

We walked up to the bridge you see in the last 2 pics and saw the rainbow the spray of the waterfall was making. So pretty!

After this outing we piled back int he van and made our way to Tualatin, a suburb of Portland, where we stayed with the Muirs, a wonderful family who took good care of Michael while he was serving as a missionary! The Muirs had an awesome home with amazing gardens! We were met by the wsweet sign:
They gave us a tour that first night and the kids immediately chose the swing as their favorite thing!

We had such a good time didn't we? Thank you for taking me along. Can't wait for the next trip. Love you all.
Of course I remember your adorable family! I was actually just thinking about you and wondered where the heck you ended up at. Nice to see your hubby's still writing. I miss his humor! Your kids are just too cute!! Great to hear from you!!!
